This year is my first Chinese New Year in China. My family celebrates Chinese New Year every year. My relatives' family and mine always gathering at my grandma's home, then set the firecracker and have a big meal together, but this year, it was only me, alone in Beijing.

During Chinese New Year holiday or Spring Festival, most of shops, restaurants and service were closed. No car on street. Everywhere seems to be quiet. However, it seems like everybody who still in Beijing were going to the temple fair on New Year's day, including me.

Ditan Temple Fair (held at the Temple of Earth) is one of the most popular and long-standing fairs in Beijing. About one million people visit it each year during the Spring Festival. The admission fee is 10 Yuan.

There were so many people at the fair. I can say that I can see nothing but crowd.

chinahighlights.com said the temple fair at the Ditan has the best snacks. Every year numerous vendors will sell more than a hundred types of Chinese snacks, especially Beijing local snacks. Some of China’s most-honored brands can be found there. Then, I expected a lot to taste local snacks here. However, I could not access them!!! It was so crowded!!! I could not press myself into the crowd to see these snack stalls. The only thing that I can access was Shao-kao or barbecued on skewers, mostly are goat meat or lamb. Sadly, you can see Shao-kao at every tourist attraction in Beijing because it is a prominent dish of Beijing.

There were many performances at the fair such as acrobatics, traditional dancing and concerts performed by groups of local and regional artists.
