Lama Temple is the popular destination for Chinese to visit during Chinese New Year or Spring Festival. In the morning the family will come to the temple and pray for good fortune and then go to the Ditan Temple Fair which located near Lama temple.
The above photo is the photo of Lama Temple on the normal day. Normally, after you arrived at the Lama Temple subway station, you will reach the temple in 5 minutes. However, at Chinese New Year's day, I spent 4 hours to get there! 4 hours!
The city controlled the traffic by closed the shortest road to the temple and forced the people to used one block detour which extend the distance least 3 km. Such a long long way to the temple.
The blue line is normal way to the temple but the city closed it. The people must to use detour instead (red line of the map).
Even if I wanted to turn back and go home after I saw the crowd, but I could not! I stuck among the one way direction crowd! So I needed to keep going on.
After 4 hours, finally I arrived the temple. In the temple it was crowded but still less people than the street outside. Next year, I'm gonna stay home for sure!!
