Xiangshan （香山）or Fragrant Hills Park located in the northwest of Beijing. This place is a famous place for red leaves in the autumn. However, I came here many times but never met the red leafs cover whole mountain but some red in spots.
The reason that it became famous because in children's Chinese language textbook has one chapter said something like ' the weather is getting cold. Autumn is coming. Let's go to Xiangshan watching red leaves on this weekend.' Because of this chapter of textbook, Xiangshan became well known among Chinese student. Then, if they came to Beijing in autumn, the come to Xiangshan even it's not that stunning.
Xiangshan has many routes you can choose. There are many hiking routes, difficult one or easy walking sightseeing routes.
Entrance fee 15 RMB. Cable car 60 RMB/single trip Transportation take subway line 10 to Bagou station（巴沟）then change to subway western suburban line to Xiangshan station（香山）
Score 7/10 : Xiangshan has beautiful gardens, many spots for photo taking, many ponds, nice and quiet places for sip tea while reading a novel, hotel, restaurants and tea cafes. There are many hiking routes with different levels; such as hiking for hours or walking for pleasure and take a cable car to top of the mountain. However, the cable car ticket was a little bit expensive for this level of height. (120RMB round-trip)
